Constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a rightward facing profile of Duke Carl Eduard, circumscribed by name and title, topped by a royal crown, the reverse with a Saxe Coburg and Gotha coat of arms, topped by an inscription of FUER VERDIENST (FOR MERIT), unmarked, measuring 31. 35 mm (w)
