I've been trying to learn a little more about varieties of antique playing cards and what distinguishes specific decks

with the color showing on the top side and the natural gray unpainted paper on the underside

including perhaps near or in front of a window

And it looks to me like a pair of bee skeps here, side by side, used to illustrate the phrase a pair of happy colonies, coexisting in peace. I know this is English, c. 1790s an early one, painted tin, and a large one,for tobacco or snuff. I love how wonderfully folky the lettering is and those freehand curlicues, perhaps suggesting bees buzzing around! 5 7 8" w x 3 3 8" d x 1 3 16" t and in good condition.
