VB 89 was part of the Pacific Fleet, and served aboard the USN aircraft carrier USS Antietam (CV 36) from October 1944 until April 1946, and flew Vought FU4 Corsairs off her deck. The embroidered patch shows a sheep hiding a bomb behind his back. The reverse of of the jacket is named in black paint stencil: BOWER E.
