According to the collector we purchased it from, this Springfield percussion musket was found after many years in a barn, having been forgotten about. This musket is actually was supposed to have been recovered from the Battle field of GETTYSBURG, and the barn it was found it was very close to the site. While it is an outdated model, many of these earlier Springfield Musket were pressed into service, especially by the
