We just received this lovely example along with about 200 other guns, from a collection that sat in an attic for close to 100 years. It dates from the 1880's is marked: Marked FINE STEEL on the barrel strap. The chamber area of the barrels is definitely Damascus steel, probably welded onto a regular steel barrel. The chamber area experiences the highest pressure, and is most in need of the extra strength an
