The traveling staging or gantry of each crane has a span of 23 feet center to center of rails, one of the later being laid close to the edge of the quay, and the other in the 6 feet between rails. The clear height is 17 feet 6 inches, which allows the uninterrupted circulation of locomotives, and all kinds of rolling stock on
